Schools Session – Escher Inspired Tessellations

For primary schools, our Escher inspired session to create a piece of Tessellation artwork.

Can you create a pattern on a piece of paper, made up of repeating shapes, without leaving any gaps, spaces or overlaps? That’s a tessellation!

The artist M.C. Escher is known as a master of tessellation, he took simple polygons (2D shapes with straight sides), changed them slightly and repeated to create beautiful drawings and prints.

What you'll need

Paper
Card (optional to make a template)
Scissors
Pencil
Tape
Colouring pens / pencils /paint
