Meet the team: Susan

Susan is one of our Community & Schools Outreach Coordinators. She joined Maths on Toast in September 2019.

What did you do before you joined Maths on Toast?

I worked in a primary school whilst pursuing my passion for art and children’s illustration. Previously I spent 13 years working as a schools development lead for a large charity.

How do you use maths in your job?

I get to make and discover creative maths every day, from planning fun activities to measuring and recording data. I meet lots of lovely families and help them to explore and enjoy maths together!

What’s your favourite thing to put on toast?

Apart from Maths? Baked Beans.

What is your favourite shape?

I like spotty and dotty things so I am going to have to say circle.

Can you tell us a mathematical joke?

Why is 6 afraid of 7?

Because 789

Can you speak any other languages?

I remember some random words and phrases from A-level German. Not sure I can slip sumpfschildkröte* into everyday conversation!

What skill would you love to learn?

So many skills like rolling my R’s, whistling with my fingers, juggling and riding a unicycle! Imagine doing them all at the same time!

(*it means terrapin!)
