Volunteer with Maths on Toast to help us deliver creative maths activities for the whole family! We are always looking for people who can volunteer with us on Saturdays and during the school holidays for in-person volunteering.
Monthly volunteering in our Library and Community Venues
We run a monthly programme of family maths sessions in libraries and community venues in Camden and Brent. If you can offer 2 hours once a month on a Saturday, please do get in touch with us about volunteering at community@mathsontoast.org.uk.
We always need volunteers to support us to run our sessions, and make sure everyone has fun doing maths! You might be chatting, colouring, holding sticky tape or figuring out how to construct a mathematical form from drinking straws! No maths experience is necessary, you don’t have to be a maths expert – though it’s also fine if you are! – just someone who enjoys meeting/talking to children and families. Whatever we’re doing, our volunteers tell us they enjoy themselves and our visitors find it inspiring to meet them.
Volunteering with us helps you to develop skills within a community and family setting, we offer support and mentoring to help you to achieve personal development goals and we can provide references if needed. You will make a huge difference to our charity – your support will enable us to reach more people in the local community and help us to ensure our sessions are well resourced and well delivered.
Volunteering process
- To volunteer with Math on Toast, we will have an initial chat with you about the specifics of the role you are applying for.
- We will invite you to come along to one of our sessions as a trial to see if it suits you and your experiences.
- We will then ask you to provide us with two references and will need to complete a DBS check to continue volunteering with us on a regular basis.
- We can cover reasonable travel expenses for the sessions you attend.
Volunteer from home
If you are not local to our in-person sessions but would like to get involved with the work we do from home, we would love to hear from you.
Depending on your skills, it might be compiling some data, proof reading our reports, making videos of our activities to use on YouTube or TikTok or some general admin tasks.
Get in touch with us at community@mathsontoast.org.uk with details/examples of your skills and experience and how you would like to help with our mission.
