Maths on Toast’s Join-In projects and galleries offer everyone – families at home, community groups, libraries, home educators and schools – the opportunity to take part in collaborative, imaginative hands-on maths.
We called them Join-In projects because that’s what we want everyone to do!
Our Join-In projects typify our creative approach, with participants designing, crafting and decorating a maths-inspired artwork. It is free and simple to join in – just take part and create, then send us a picture! Your creation will then appear in an online project gallery.
Join-In projects are a great way to enjoy doing maths together as a family or group, building a positive attitude to maths and exploring mathematical ideas at your own pace and in your own way. Why is this a good idea? Find out more on the 5 Key Principles of the Maths on Toast creative maths approach.
There are 3 key Join-In moments in the Maths on Toast calendar, with projects taking place in spring, summer and autumn. It’s simple and free to take part. The resources, templates, instructions and videos for each season’s Join-In will be available on our website.
The galleries stay open and you can send in your creations at any time.
Each Join-In project will feature in one of our free monthly family maths events: face to face Drop-Ins and online Stay-Ins. See our Events page for our next sessions.
In addition, schools can access a dedicated online session delivered by the Maths on Toast team. These will coincide with annual Maths Weeks in London, England and Scotland when possible. Register your interest for our November school stay-in session.
